i know you so well
though you don’t
know that i do
seen the things
you tried
(to hide)
been the wings
you needed
(to decide)
and now
i’m leaving
to let us
grow
Being seen is such a gift. Less appreciated is the quiet gift of knowing someone well. This poem speaks from that place.
Many of us, whether professionally or personally, find ourselves in roles of deep care — holding space, offering support, seeing others deeply — whether as mentors, friends, parents, siblings or partners.
But even in this role, there are boundaries. Conventional wisdom often says: let them fly. But sometimes, the deeper wisdom is: it’s time for me to go, or let go.
