i long for a planet
cared for
tended to
and when i do
my body’s work—
clear blood rivers
stoke bright lungs—
i do it also for you
Rested and replenished, we make better decisions for ourselves, for our children, for our planet. This is often the missing piece in self-care: it’s bigger than me. It’s the “also for you”.
Coming to my body — clearing blood rivers and stoking bright lungs through specific practices, but also dancing, playing, laughing, crying — is the most direct way I can care for myself. (It might be different for you.)
P.S. With thanks to Legacy Motion and SomaPsych for deepening my understanding of a term that is often overused (and for introducing me to new tools for care).
